مُحيط [مفرد]: ج مُحيطات (لغير العاقل): ١- اسم فاعل من أحاطَ / أحاطَ بـ. ٢- بيئة، وسط يقيم به الإنسان "المرءُ نتاج محيطه الاجتماعيّ". ٣- (جو) قسم شاسع المساحة من سطح الكرة الأرضيّة تغمره المياه المالحة من كلّ جهة، أو العظيم من البحار يحدق باليابسة كالمحيط الأطلنطيّ والمحيط الهنديّ والمحيط الهاديّ ° قَطْرَة في محيط: قليل جدًّا. ٤- (حد) مَنْ أحاط علمه بمائة ألف حديث. المحيط: اسم من أسماء الله الحسنى، ومعناه: الذي أحاطت قدرتُه وسعة علمه بجميع خَلْقه " {وَاللهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكَافِرِينَ} - {إِنَّ اللهَ بِمَا يَعْمَلُونَ مُحِيطٌ}. محيط الدَّائرة: (هس) خطّ يحدق بالدَّائرة.

١. "عَاشَ فيِ مُحِيطٍ عِلْمِيٍّ": فِي وَسَطٍ عِلْمِيٍّ، أَيِ الجَوُّ وَالبِيئَةُ الَّتِي يَعِيشُ فِيهَا الِإْنَسَانُ. ٢. "مُحِيطُ الدَّائِرَةِ" (هن): الخَطُّ الَّذِي يُحِيطُ بِالدَّائِرَةِ. ٣. "الْمُحِيطُ الأَطْلَسِيُّ": البَحْرُ الَّذِي يُحِيطُ بِاليَابِسَةِ. "تُغَطِّي الْمُحِيطَاتُ مَا يُقَارِبُ مِنْ ثُلُثَيِ الكُرَةِ الأَرْضِيَّةِ" "الْمُحِيطُ الهَادِي" "الْمُحِيطُ الهِنْدِيُّ". ٤. ... وَقَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاللَّهُ مُحِيطٌ بِالْكافِرِينَ؛ أَي جَامِعُهُمْ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ. وأَحاطَ بالأَمر إِذا أَحْدَقَ بِهِ مِنْ جَوانِبِه كلِّه. وَقَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: وَاللَّهُ مِنْ وَرائِهِمْ مُحِيطٌ؛ أَي لَا يُعْجِزُه أَحَدٌ قُدْرَتُهُ مُشْتَمِلَةٌ عَلَيْهِمْ. وحاطَهم قَصاهُم وبِقَصاهُم: قاتَلَ عَنْهُمْ. وَقَوْلُهُ تَعَالَى: أَحَطْتُ بِما لَمْ تُحِطْ بِهِ؛ أَي عَلِمْتُهُ مِنْ جَمِيعِ جهاتِه. وأَحاطَ بِهِ: عَلِمَه وأَحاطَ بِهِ عِلْماً.
